We are trying to make it tough to come away from the Charlotte Twestival without a Prize!

We are Giving away the Free Cruise from CruiseDeals.com We are Giving away the 3 pairs of Tickets to Live tapings of 106.5 the Ends EndSessions.
Other prizes include 1 year free membership to Peak Fitness donated by Carolina Nightlife, Sink or Swim SCUBA - one scuba certification, 1 Massage and other goodies from Felicitea, a Jon Beason signed Mini-Panthers Helmet, Radiance Med Spa donated a chemical peel and Macrodermabrasion, and there are more…Come display your Wii Awesomeness to win some of the prizes!

I have not seen another Twestival with as many great prizes! Thank you very much to all of the the businesses who donated!

The Charlotte Organizational Team is having our last meetup today…so be looking for more announcements today because great stuff always come out of these meetups!

We have sold 7 VIP tickets, and that is $100 a piece that goes directly to Charity: Water. These attendees bought VIP tickets without knowing what VIPs get because we had not announced it. Therefore it is easy to assume that they made they bought the tickets just because they wanted to donate $100 to a great cause. We have sold some $50 tickets too…so I am very proud of Charlotte for stepping up to make nice size donations!

We have great momentum…we have a future interview on CharlotteTalks schedule to discuss the success of the event and the growth of Social Media in Charlotte. There are multiple news media that will be represented at the event. This will be an awesome opporunity for us to show the power of Social Media in Charlotte and that these are strong connections that we are making online! This is also a great opportunity for those who are not on Twitter yet to come and meet some of the users and learn about how they can use the App to possibly enhance their life.

So make sure you buy your ticket and that you are CANs Bar and Canteen around 7:00PM on 2.12.09!

The Little Mermaid at Charlotte Twestival?

Posted on: 5 February 2009 at 2243 - Comment

One of the few local CLT actresses on Twitter will be appearing at the event as the Little Mermaid.  Ok, @Kjannfischer could be the only local actress on Twitter.

During Charlotte Twestival there will be plenty of Photo ops to get plastered across the internet and Twitpic’d back to Twitter.  But there be none better than the photo of you and the Little Mermaid.   Plus, all of us who are friends with @kjannfischer will not want to miss her in the full Little Mermaid Costume.

Clean Water is a very important issue to the Little Mermaid…and going forward we may need to refer to her as the Mermaid, to avoid brand infringement…But she will be there and you will not want to miss it!

We are excited to announce that we have confirmed one of our Guest Speakers.   We will be releasing the full schedule of the event as it is going to be jammed full adult beverages, Wii Games, Prizes and most important Global Water Awareness!

Terri Bennett will be one of Guest Speakers who will discuss the importance of supporting causes like Charity: Water in order to give people in developing countries the clean drinking water that can be easy for us to take for granted.  Terri has been providing weather forecasts in the Charlotte area for more than 16 years. Her work on television has been recognized by the Radio and Television News Directors Association of the Carolinas as the “Best Weathercaster in the Carolinas” numerous times.   Terri has been sharing her wealth of knowledge about weather, astronomy, gardening and the environment through her work on television, the internet and a daily column in the Charlotte Observer.  - To Learn more about Terri please visit her website which this Bio was ripped straight from Terribennett.com -

Terri has a true passion for the environment and sustainable living. To have her volunteer her time as a speaker is a great addition to the Charlotte Twestival!   Charity: Water and the curiousity to see the faces behind Social Media in Charlotte has drawn the interest of several other Local Media Personalities as well as other political and Business leaders.   We expect to have more exciting announcements such as this one very soon!

Announcement: Charlotte Twestival Venue

Posted on: at 0015 - Comment

At the end of our 5th Day of Planning, we are extremely excited to announce our 2009 Venue. The Cans Bar and Canteen, located at 500 W 5th St. in uptown Charlotte. We could not have asked for more out of a venue to Partner with the Charlotte Twestival. A nice open space, a wonderful staff, lots of Audio and technical capabilities, provision of some nibbles, and best of all for a Twitter Event is that there are no issues with cell service!

Choosing the Venue has been issue #1 for the planning team for obvious reasons.  Today, @CLTNightlife (Carolinanightlife.com) volunteered to lend their expertise in Charlotte Event Planning and within hours of their involvement we had Cans locked in as the venue. @DavidKyle and @KateyMarie were also instrumental in the vetting process of several other clubs and restaurants.

On Tuesday Morning, 02.03.09, the Ticketing of the event will become live. This event is going to be promoted across multiple media channels. There are going to be a very limited amount of $5 tickets for those early birds on a tight budget. Keep an eye on this blog for the Ticket Button at the top right…

Many more announcements to come, stay tuned….and remember this is a 100% Volunteer effort, we need your help promoting this event…If you have a local blog, please write a post about the Charlotte Twestival and how you are attending!

Charlotte Twestival Organizational Meetup

Posted on: 31 January 2009 at 2052 - Comment

The Organizational Team met today to generate ideas, discuss progress, assign action items, and to move forward as quickly as possible with the planning of Charlotte Twestival.  In the first 48 hours of planning, the team made some great headway thanks to strong individual efforts.  Now with a shared vision for the event, we will move even faster toward throwing a very memorable Charlotte Twestival!

Success of the event will ultimately be measured by the dollars that we raise for Charity: Water and the amount that we all increased awareness of Charity: Water in the Charlotte area.  This is an excellent opportunity for the Charlotte Social Media Community to show our collaborative spirit, commitment to help, and ability to influence others to support a great cause.  At the Event\Party, we will show the world via Live Video Streams how Charlotte can throw a Party!

At Today’s Meeting, we set the goal to raise $5000 from the Charlotte Twestival for Charity: Water.  It takes a minimum of $4,000 to build a new well.  We want to raise enough money build the least expensive well with some left over.  Your support is necessary to make this happen.  To achieve our goal, we need you to commit to being at the event on 02.12.09, tell your friends, and let us know of local businesses with a social conscious who would love to be involved!

Would you like to get more involved?  Do you work for the media? Does your business want to sponsor the event or donate prizes? Here is who to Contact on the Organizational Team:
